vinaspen was founded by john beatty (pictured opposite), a transplanted aussie who fell in love with the rockies and has made his home in aspen for the past 20 years. after a wine deprived upbringing, john was introduced to quality wine by his best mate in australia, bob (aka "big bob").  john was then  fortunate to rent an office for his legal practice from another lawyer and now friend, another bob, who shared his passion and knowledge of burgundy and other old world areas (aka "burgundy bob").   

After attending several aspen food and wine classics, as an attendee, then  volunteer, he organized an exhibit of premium aussie wine and food. This was the genesis of what has become vinaspen. While still exhibiting, john has become more closely involved, acting as seminar wine manager for the classic (which he has done for several years now).

john started vinaspen to fill the perceived need to provide quality small production wineries with the ability to distribute their wines. we have gotten this far with the support of a few key people - you know who you are, and thank you.
